The Society published quarterly Newsletters with historical articles about the Southwest Valley, and news of the Society, from 2009 through 2020. They are available for download at previous newsletters
As previously announced, your Society Board of Directors has determined that it is no longer feasible to continue operating the Three Rivers Historical Society. Our financial resources are depleted. Society meetings and functions have been suspended since 2020, and thus we have not solicited membership dues. A number of your Board members have served for many years, most beyond actual elected terms, and are not able to continue as such a small core group.
A few dozen members attended the published meeting on March 10, and voted unanimously to dissolve the organization. The second purpose of that meeting was to celebrate our accomplishments. For 19 years, Three Rivers has explored our West Valley history, gathered and preserved important documents and presented our cherished photos and stories to the public at various community events and spaces.
The Board of Directors has decided to donate our historical collection and all assets to the Paul W. Litchfield Heritage Center, operating under the Litchfield Park Historical Society. We have consulted with them for well over a year, and are confident that our holdings will be preserved as the “Three Rivers Historical Society Collection” and that our other assets (cash, equipment, etc) will continue to be used to foster the mission of preserving the history of he Southwest Valley.
All financial obligations have been paid. The Board will meet March 29, 2022 to formally dissolve the organization (through filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission) and draft a letter of donation to the Paul W. Litchfield Heritage Center for all our assets. This web domain will stay in place through Spring 2023, but will be forwarded to a “Three Rivers” page at the Litchfield Park Historical Society site at lphsmuseum.org
